There are 2 use cases specified in the project to deploy SCMS software in real world scenarios:
Use Case 1 – AIDA Cruises

Enhancement of the Presentation for Touristic Destinations by Semantic Retrieval of Related Information

Initial situation
The touristic destinations visited during an AIDA cruise are presented on the AIDA website. A number of facts as well as some media is presented to allow the customer to get an impression of what the location is like. This content is partly licensed from content providers or maintained by employees of AIDA. This situation limits the amount of content that can be maintained and shown to the user for the website.
Use case idea
There are a lot of sources for user generated content on the web. Flickr for example as a very large platform for sharing pictures is very well known. Wikipedia is a very good source for background information about resources. Furthermore on the web there are a lot of travel blog holding very valuable information about customer experience with a certain destination or attraction.
The existing data about destinations will be crawled. This information about resources will be stored in a database and is than used to find relevant content in a number of additional data sources on the web like flickr, wikipedia, a webcommunity, etc. This additional information is than presented to the user to extend the information about a certain destination.
For content from weblogs a sentiment analysis is done, in order to offer a way to sort and filter the data prior to presentation.
Not only will this guarantee a wider variety of information, it will also make the concept of location presentation scalable to a far greater extend, than it is now.
Extended use case: search
The structured resource information will furthermore be used in a second scenario in this use case. The information stored in the RDF database will allow for advanced searching in the website. The user will be able to search for cruises by activities or general preferences. She will be presented with a cruise that matches her requirements including a hint on what information the cruise was chosen.
Use Case 2 – reegle Information Gateway

reegle.info – Information Gateway for RE & EE
Initial situation
Access to the latest high quality information on renewables, energy efficiency and climate change is fundamental to the acceleration
of the clean energy marketplace, facilitating investments, promoting new legislation and regulations and broadening interest and knowledge
in the sector.
reegle therefore uses a fully automated categorised (in total 41 categories) search-index composed of A) information from several internet information sources
as well as of B) several internal databases. This information is furthermore connected to a RE & EE tpoic map that allows to show relations between the
documents inside of the index.
Use case idea
More data & information then reegle uses today will be collected for the index of reegle. Additional databases, more internet sources, blogs & news, statistical data, geodata, videos etc.
The data & information of these several structured & unstructed information sources will be transformed/stored as RDF triples
to use the information in a next step set into context / relation. Furthermore a RE & EE SKOS thesaurus will be used for categorisation & annotation of the content.
In further consequence a search request on the reegle search engine (e.g. Energy Law in China) can be analysed better by the SCMS reegle system and as a result the user will receive
a full blown ‘dossier mash up’ that provides a ‘comprehensive result set’ for the given search request.

Expanded Use Case: News Mining
In a second project phase this system will be expanded by a news mining component. This component enables the reegle system to provide ‘real time news’ as another part of the dossiers
as well as additional information (that needs to be specified in detail) out of the text mining component CARE that is able to provide ‘concept extraction’ as well as ‘fact finding’ out of huge masses
of unstructured information.
For example additional information for an Actor can be provided: e.g. REEEP specific news articles & sentiment analysis
for REEEP as well as facts about REEEP.
